HOW WE STARTED
SÜPRMARKT has humble beginnings.
Enjoy a trip down memory lane as we share some of the brightest moments from this journey.
Two Hundred Bucks & a Dream
In 2016, Olympia Auset grew tired of traveling 2+ hours by bus to get food. She and Lonnie Wade begin popping up in Leimert Park weekly to provide affordable organics in South Central.
Broken bread
“Broken Bread” TV series premieres, hosted by Roy Choi and featuring SÜPRMARKT; broadcast nationally on KCET, Tastemade, and Hulu.
1st Annual SÜPRFEST
SÜPRFEST, South Central’s first organic vegan festival, is held in Leimert Park. It offers free & discounted vegan meals from Black & Brown Vendors to 1k+ South Central residents & features appearances from Tabitha Brown, Jenné Claiborne, Don Miguel Ruiz, & more.
Feed The Hood™
In response to the pandemic, SÜPRMARKT launches Feed The Hood™, providing thousands of pounds of organic dry goods, produce, & free vegan meals weekly to keep South Central nourished in the face of empty store shelves, economic downturn, and food shortages.
THE BUILD OUT
It took more than two years and several challenges and set backs to complete this health food oasis.
